Each year, we await the Neocon trade show with excitement and anticipation. It's guaranteed to show us the future of commercial design and offer a wealth of new products featuring the most innovative designs. Each year, The Mart attracts a more diverse audience to partake in the 3-day design exhibition. In fact, "end user attendance is approaching 20% of the overall NeoCon audience"! An encouraging statistic for those of us in the design community, it tells us that our clients are just as invested in visionary design in contract interiors. For those who couldn't make the journey to the windy city this year, Mahla has pulled together our favorite highlights from Neocon 2017.
National Office Furniture
With a focus on warm wood and collaboration settings, National's showroom was one of our favorites. The industry is shifting toward comfortable and relaxing environments that encourage communication. We loved the simplicity of the OFS showroom this year. A carefully curated color palette of modern, muted hues gave us a home-away-from-home feeling; which speaks volumes to the current residential trends in the commercial furniture industry. There wasn't a seat in sight that didn't entice us to simply take a moment to sit and "relax". OFS introduced more than a dozen new products to their line. Check out the beautiful new designs here.
A company that's always thinking outside of the box, BuzziSpace was nothing short of impressive yet again. They took home awards for Best (Small) Showroom from the International Interior Design Association (IIDA) and Contract's Best of NeoCon Gold for BuzziPleat, their acoustic panel solution. Buzzi is ever expanding their line and pushing the boundaries of what we consider typical commercial design. Check out their blog for an in-depth look at their new products.
This year at NeoCon, Geiger focused on new veneers and textiles as well as product introductions, including their latest executive chair, Taper; which earned them the Gold Award from Contract Magazine's Best of NeoCon for Ergonomic Desk or Task Seating! Continuing their focus on "quality, craft and material" has helped them produce an iconic, desirable aesthetic that provides problem-solving solutions for any office environment .
The theme "Win Every Workday" showed outstanding creativity and thoughtful design. Hon developed workplace "personalities"; Champion, Protector, Investigator, and Adventurer. They categorized areas of the showroom by color and placement of specific products that supported the activities of each personality. The floor plan also showed how those personalities interact. In addition, some great new products and fabrics were introduced, including an improved Ignition 2.0 task chair.
